Public data:  All NDACC data more than two years old are public data.
Additionally some PIs have authorized their data for early release.  These
data are available as soon as they are cataloged in the database. This public
record is available through anonymous ftp at ftp.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/ndacc or by
a clickable map linking sites with data directories. 

Moreover, some PIs opt for rapid data release (at maximum 1 month after data
acquisition) knowing that the data are well-suited for validation and
quick-look purposes but are possibly of somewhat lesser data quality or
possibly have less information content than the usual NDACC-qualified data. In
that case, the data will be cataloged in the .RD. directory on the public
server ftp://ftp.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/ndacc/RD/, and will carry the substring
.RD. as the initial characters of the string entry in the DATA_QUALITY
attribute of the (GEOMS HDF) data file.

As soon as the PI has submitted the consolidated version of these .rapid
delivery. data, the RD data will be removed from the database and the
consolidated data will be found in the usual station directory on
ftp.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/ndacc
