Data Set Description: During the ACE-1 intensive measurement campaign the Aerosol Chemistry group in the Dept. of Atmospheric Science at Colorado State University (CSU) carried out continuous particle size distribution measurements at Macquarie Island, Tasmania. The measurements were performed between November 22 and December 13, 1995. A differential mobility particle sizing (DMPS) system was employed to conduct the measurements. The DMPS system consisted of a TSI Model #3071 differential mobility analyzer (DMA) and a TSI Model #3010 condensation particle counter (CPC). The CPC was calibrated at the ACE-1 CPC calibration workshop at the University of Washington. Size distributions were obtained between 18 and 540 nm. The measured raw distributions were inverted using a new data inversion algorithm developed at the Institute for Tropospheric Research in Leipzig, Germany. During the inversion the DMA transmission efficiencies and the CPC counting efficiencies were accounted for. Size distribution have been corrected for diffusional losses within the sample inlet tubing and the permeable membrane dryer used to reduce the sample humidity to levels below 25% prior to entering the DMA. Format: space-delimited ASCII. The inverted size distribution data are stored in a single file containing 1525 size distributions with the following format: First row includes the midpoint diameter array to be used with the inverted size distribution (dN/dlogDp) data. Diameter units are nanometers and there are 53 diameter channels. The diameter values are spaced at logarithmically equal intervals. Second through last rows include the inverted 53 channel size distribution data. Each row contains the following information: Column: Parameter 1: Date (YYYY/MM/DD) (UTC) 2: Time (HH:MM:SS) (UTC) 3: Decimal Day of Year (UTC) 4: Instrument Temperature (K) 5: Instrument Pressure (mb) 6: Number of Size bins (always 53) 7-59: dN/dlogDp (or diameters for row one) File Name Conventions: kr_dmps.dat References: None.
