Data summary through 11/15 20Z

GENERAL: RV Discoverer under weigh as of 09Z 11/15

SURFACE DATA:

All sensors appear to be working well.

SOUNDING - PROFILER COMPARISON:

11/15 12Z CLASS winds questionable below 1.5 km; profl: within 10 deg above
          1.5 km but speeds scattered; profh: off by 100 deg, speed low
	  by about 7 m/s.
	  RASS agreement good consistent with virtual temperature

11/15 18Z Profl: poor below 600m speed off by 4 m/s and no dir agreement;
          above 600m within 20 deg and 0-3 m/s
	  Profh: consistently poor all heights
	  RASS agreement good consistent with virtual temperature

PROFILER DATA:

Low mode:  profiles up to 1.7 to 2.5 km; low winds (clutter?) to 700m
High mode: profiles up to 2.5 to 3.0 km; direction change (clutter?) below 800m
RASS:      profiles up to about 600 m, better at start of period.
High and Low modes sometimes compare well (speed and direction) above 1 to
1.5 km, but very poorly below. Other times (including during soundings)
they disagree greatly.

SOUNDING COMMENTS:

11/15 12Z  (1148): Good thermo & winds, except poor/missing between 0.9 and
1.5 km.

11/15 18Z  (1634): Good winds and thermo. Inversion and drying above 1400m

GENERAL: Current status: Profiler/RASS inop; Radiosondes working; Sfc working

SURFACE DATA:

All sensors look good.
Winds were consistent from SW at 4 m/s; with distinct shift after 8Z 11/16
becomming consistent from NE at 10 m/s

SOUNDING - PROFILER WIND COMPARISON:

No profiler winds available

PROFILER DATA:

Profiler still inoperative. Being looked into.

SOUNDING COMMENTS:

11/16 6Z  (0459): Good thermo; winds good with exception of gap 12-13 km,
and a few bad points near 2km. Inversion and drying above 800m

11/16 12Z (1126): Good winds and thermo. Inversion and drying above 600m

SITE LOG INFORMATION: (summary of relevant TKLOG entries)

Omega lock problem identified and fixed. Good lock on recent flights.
