NMHC:
Butane ~3ppb; Pentane ~0.3ppb in equilibrated air samples.
CO2:
Nitrate/Chlorophyll:
Nitrate concentrations are approximately 12 uM. Seawater
fluorescence is being recorded continuously. Surface seawater
samples are being collected every 4 hours for discrete chlorophyll analysis.
Atmospheric Measurements:
DMS:
average concentration yesterday = 110 ppt.
SO2:
Concentrations approximately 5-10 ppt.
NH3:
Using oxalic acid coated filters.
CO:
NMHC:
O3:
Concentrations near 18ppb (2200 local time).
Nitrogen oxides and PAN:
NO2 system not operational.
Aerosol chemistry:
2-stage and 7-stage impactors currently sampling for time
periods ranging from 24 to 72 hours for IC, total organic carbon, speciated
organics, and gravimetric analysis.
Aerosol optical properties:
TDMA-RH:
TDMA-Thermal:
Observed sudden increase in volatility and different degrees of external
mixing last evening--returning slowly back to a 'non volatile' state
---maybe due to slow neutralization of sulfuric acid.
ISS Status and Schedule:
System operational with 4 sondes/day. An extra sonde was launched at
0300 to support aircraft overflight.
Routine Weather Observations: Going well.
Satellite Observations: None
CTD Cast Schedule: None.
SPECIAL PLANNED OBSERVATIONS (NEXT 24-HOURS):
Continue transit to Southern Surveyor Station P1 at 42S, 140E. Hold
station there until approximately 0000Z on 11/27 to complete 72 hour
sampling period.
PAST 24-HR OPERATIONS SUMMARY:
1. Intercomparison with Southern Surveyor complete at 2200 on 11/24.
included radiosonde, DMS (seawater and atmospheric), and seawater
nitrate, ammonium + ammonia, chlorophyll, DOC.
2. Intercomparison with C-130 commenced at 0115 on 11/25.
