NOTE REGARDING PREVIOUS ISS PRODUCT LOG:

Due to an editing "typo", a comment regarding
profiler directional offset (relative to the
CLASS sounding winds) was attributed to both 
ISS sites. This is NOT the case. That offset
is ONLY found in ISS1 (NOAA DISCOVERER) and 
not in the Cape Grimm ISS.

ACE - NOAA DISCOVERER:  (ISS1)

Data summary 11/24 06Z through 11/27 00Z

GENERAL: Surface wind sensor may have problem related to intermittant SCS correction.

SURFACE DATA: Good T, RH, P, gauge, rad. Not sure about wind speed/dir

Winds: some jumps in wind speed continue to occur.
Could be bad input when correcting for ship's motion.

SOUNDING - PROFILER COMPARISON:

RASS good. Parallel to and slightly warmer than sonde.

(note direction of errors assume class is correct and refer to radar data)

11/26 06Z (0500): Speed within 4 m/s.
		  Direction good within 20 deg. except at very low levels.
11/26 12Z (1100): Low mode: speed poor sfc - 2100m; within 2 m/s above.
		  High mode: speed poor sfc - 1200m; within 4 m/s above.
		  Direction good - within 20-30 deg. throughout.
11/26 18Z (1656): Speed bad throughout. Oscillation in sounding wind. No high mode.
		  Direction good above 2.0km. No profiler data below.
11/27 00Z (2300): Low mode: speed within 4 m/s.
		  High mode: speed within 5 m/s;
		  Direction good - within 20-30 deg. throughout.

PROFILER DATA:

Low mode: typically to 2.0 to 4.5 km. 
High mode: typically to 3.0 to 7.0 km. 
RASS: profiles generally to 600-800 m.

NOTE: The high sonde temperatures at the surface are due to the launches being made from an ASAP
launcher (a warmer environment). This situation will be addressed in POST PROCESSING.

GENERAL: Current status: Profiler/RASS WORKING; Radiosondes working; Sfc
			 thermo/gauge/rad working, sfc speed inop; sfc
			 direction probably ok.

SURFACE DATA:

All sensors look good except anemometer.
Wind speed:  No speed (broken); direction reportdly within 3 degrees
	of Cape Grimm station sensor.

SOUNDING - PROFILER WIND COMPARISON:

RASS good. Parallel to and slightly warmer than sonde.

11/27 00Z (2300): Speed within 2 m/s above 1 km, within 4 m/s below.
		  Direction agreement very good.
11/27 06Z (0500): Speed within 4 m/s, Direction agreement very good.
11/27 12Z (1100): Speed within 4 m/s throughout, Direction agreement very good.
11/27 18Z (1712): Low mode: Speed within 3 m/s 600m - 1200m, poor otherwise.
		  Direction good below 1.0km, otherwise poor.
		  High mode: Speed within 4 m/s below 5km. Bad above.
		  Direction good below 5.0km, otherwise poor.

PROFILER DATA:

Some noisy windspeed data at times - lots of scatter relative to CLASS windspeed.

Low mode: typically to 3.0 to 4.5 km. 
High mode: In high wind situation up to 9.0 km.
RASS: profiles generally to 600-800 m.
