Data summary 11/28 00Z through 11/29 00Z

SURFACE DATA: Good T, RH, P, gauge, rad. Not sure about wind speed/dir

Pressure: 2mb jump at 20:50Z 11/28 jump back at 00:30Z 11/29.
Winds: Surface winds questionable - will look into it further.
Could be bad SCS input correcting for ship's motion.

SOUNDING - PROFILER COMPARISON:

RASS good. Parallel to and slightly warmer than sonde.

Comparison of low and high mode profiler wind speed and direction to that of CLASS sounding.

11/28 02Z (0212): Sounding wind speed questionable below 200m. Within 2-4 m/s otherwise.
		  Direction good (both modes) - within 20 deg.
11/28 06Z (0500): Sounding wind speed questionable below 500m. Within 4 m/s otherwise.
		  Direction good (both modes) - within 20-30 deg.
11/28 12Z (1055): Low mode: speed poor sfc - 500m; within 4 m/s above.
		  High mode: speed poor sfc - 500m; within 6-8 m/s above.
		  Direction good (both modes) - within 20-30 deg. above 700m. Poor below.
11/28 18Z (1650): Speed bad below 1000m. Within 4 m/s above except near 2000m. where
		  sounding winds may be bad.
		  Direction good (both modes) - within 20-30 deg. above 1000m. Poor below.
11/29 00Z (2305): Speed: Both modes bad below 1000m. Within 2-4 m/s above.
		  Direction good (both modes) - within 20-30 deg. above 800m. Poor below.


PROFILER DATA:

Low mode: typically to 2.0 to 4.0 km. 
High mode: typically to 2.5 to 5.5 km. 
RASS: profiles generally to 600-800 m.

SOUNDING COMMENTS:

11/28 02Z (0212): Sonde T values high prior to launch (in launcher); Questionable low
                  level winds, otherwise good flt.
11/28 06Z (0500): Sonde T values high prior to launch (in launcher); Questionable low
                  level winds, missing winds 600mb, 400mb, and near 150mb (lost Omega).
11/28 12Z (1055): Sonde T values high prior to launch (in launcher); Missing low
		  level winds, otherwise good flt. 
11/28 18Z (1650): Sonde T values high prior to launch (in launcher); Missing low
		  level winds, otherwise good flt. 
11/29 00Z (2300): Noise in T, Td just below 800mb (will cleanup in post processing)
		  otherwise good flt.
                  Near sfc winds questionable.

All sensors look good. 


SOUNDING - PROFILER WIND COMPARISON:

RASS good. Parallel to and slightly warmer than sonde.

Comparison of low and high mode profiler wind speed and direction to that of CLASS sounding.

11/28 18Z (1727): Speed within 2-4 m/s throughout (both modes). Oscillation in
                  sounding wind speed data.
		  Direction: Very good agreement throughout - within 10 deg.
11/28 00Z (2300): Speed within 2 m/s throughout (both modes).
		  Direction: Very good agreement throughout - within 10 - 20 deg.
11/28 03Z (0316): Speed within 2-4 m/s throughout (both modes).	Oscillation in 
		  sounding wind speed data.
		  Direction: Very good agreement throughout - within 10 deg.
11/29 06Z (0505): No sounding data available in profiler coverage range.
		  Profiler data fills gap from surface to first sounding winds.
		  It looks very good based on sounding (and sfc.) winds available.
11/29 12Z (1103): Speed within 1-2 m/s where sounding data available (both modes).
		  Direction: Very good agreement where sounding data available.

PROFILER DATA:

Low mode: typically to 2.5 to 4.0 km. 
High mode: In high wind situation up to 9.0 km.
RASS: profiles generally to 600-900 m.

SOUNDING COMMENTS:

11/28 18Z (1727): Some noise in T,Td data (will clean up in re-processing).
		  Otherwise, very good sounding.
11/29 00Z (2300): Some noise in T,Td data (will clean up in re-processing).
                  Otherwise, very good sounding.
11/29 03Z (0316): Noise (will clean up in re-processing) in T,Td data. 
		  Sonde sensor arm heating?? (sonde T high at launch)
11/29 06Z (0505): Good PTU data; Significant Omega signal (wind data) loss.
                  Sonde sensor arm heating?? (sonde T high at launch)
11/29 12Z (1103): No winds (no Omega lock) below 800mb, otherwise good sounding.
