SURFACE DATA: Generally good. 


SOUNDING - PROFILER COMPARISON:

RASS parallel to and warmer (1.0 deg.) than sonde.

Comparison of low and high mode profiler wind speed and direction 
to that of CLASS sounding.

12/07 03Z (0201): Speed: Within 2-4 m/s 800m -> 3500m.
		  Direction: within 10-20 deg. above 1000m (both modes).
                  Otherwise poor agreement.
12/07 06Z (0500): Speed: Within 2-4 m/s above 800m (both mode); much
		  scatter below. Profiler winds above 800m look good
		  sounding windspeed has slight oscillation.
		  Direction: within 10-20 deg. above 1000m (both modes).
                  Otherwise poor agreement.
12/07 09Z (0800): Speed: Generally good agreement, except near sfc.
		  Direction: within 10-20 deg. above 1000m (both modes).
                  Otherwise poor agreement.
12/07 12Z (1100): Speed: Within 2 m/s above 1000m (both modes).
		  Direction: good - within 10 deg. above 1000m (both modes).
		  Otherwise poor agreement.


PROFILER DATA:

Low mode: typically to 2.5 to 4.5 km. 
High mode: typically to 3.0 to 6.5 km. 
RASS: profiles today: 600-1200m.

SOUNDING COMMENTS:

12/06 18Z (1654): Good sounding.
12/07 00Z (2301): Sonde T,Td values high prior to launch,
                  otherwise, good sounding.
12/07 03Z (0201): Sounding ends just above 300mb. No wind above 550mb.
                  Data recorded on sonde descent - will
                  cleanup in post processing.
12/07 06Z (0500): Good sounding.
12/07 09Z (0800): Good sounding.
12/07 12Z (1100): Good sounding (noise in PTU data and missing wind data
		  near 150mb - PTU data will cleanup in post processing).


SITE LOG INFORMATION: 

SHIP POSITION BASED ON LAST SOUNDING: 45.136 S  145.264 E

12/06 18Z (1723): Speed within 4 m/s throughout (both modes).
		  Direction: within 20-30 deg above 1500m (both modes).
12/07 00Z (2252): Speed within 1-2 m/s throughout (both modes).
		  (A couple of spurious profiler points.)
		  Direction: within 10-20 deg. throughout (both modes).
12/07 06Z (0500): Speed within 2-4 m/s throughout (both modes).
		  (A couple of spurious profiler points.)
		  Direction: within 10-20 deg throughout.
12/07 12Z (1100): Speed within 2 m/s overall (both modes).
		  Direction: within 10-20 deg throughout.
