TRACE-P Video Tapes

VHS video tapes have been placed in the GTE archive for the TRACE-P mission. The following table indicates the tapes available.

Video cameras were placed aboard each aircraft to monitor surrounding clouds. The DC-8 had a forward cloud camera in the cockpit aimed 5.5 deg. downward; it also had a cloud camera pointing nadir located in the rear of the aircraft.  The P3-B had two forward cloud cameras in the cockpit, one pointed 10 deg. up and on pointed 10 deg. down; it also had a cloud camera pointing nadir located in the rear of the aircraft.

The DC-8 had video cameras recording the scope display of weather radar and storm scope.  The P-3B had a video camera recording the scope display of the storm scope.

The numbers indicate the number of tapes in each set.  For your convenience, links are provided for each flight taking you to the flight description (not test flights).

The tapes are available by contacting  GTE Project Office at gte+archive@larc.nasa.gov (757-864-5838 or 757-864-5839). Please allow a lead time for tapes to be reproduced and shipped.
