Services that our team provides for mission activity and support, in cooperation with, and in support of, mission management, as defined by NASA Headquarters.

Program Management: Direct atmospheric chemistry campaign activities within Earth Science Enterprise (ESE) guidelines. This also includes collaborative activities with external domestic and foreign agencies, when necessary.

Resource Management: Provide management and coordination of allocated resources in order to meet the scientific objectives of each mission. These responsibilities include (a) interaction with the Tropospheric Chemistry Program management and the management of other collaborating agencies and science teams; (b) overall direction and documentation of project planning, schedules, and field operations; (c) provision of the timely transmittal of all data collected by the project into the Langley Research Center Atmospheric Science Data Center (LaRC ASDC); and (d) acquire and report base measurements in support of the mission goals. Also, in concert with the NASA Office of External Affairs and the U.S. Department of State, determine and assure compliance with host country requirements for foreign country operations.

Scientific Guidance: Coordinate all scientific aspects of the expedition, including the establishment of chief scientific mission spokespersons, chairing science team meetings, and establishing detailed flight objectives and requirements. Also includes establishing detailed flight objectives and requirements, and assisting aircraft managers in the preparation of mission flight plans.

Mission Meteorology: Provide meteorological forecasting and planning for all aircraft flights, development of meteorological data products, and meteorological deployment site support for real-time and post-mission use.

Investigation Development: Determine instrumentation support requirements at the integration and deployment sites. Coordinate and develop scientific instrumentation and modeling. Coordinate and perform data acquisition, reduction, analyses, archival and publication.

Aircraft Management: Support mission critical instrumentation installation aboard aircraft. Schedule flights and coordinate flight plans. Support aircraft payload layout, hazard analysis, engineering reviews, and inspections. Support payload installation and check-out, and payload removal. Obtain safety and flight readiness releases and documentation.

Logistics Support: Manage logistical support throughout the expedition; e.g., arrangements for shipping, lodging, travel, personnel and equipment transportation at intensive sites; procurement of project-furnished expendables, coordinate travel expenses for non-NASA and non-foreign participants; and determine and implement badge requirements at all sites.

Data and Website Management: Receive, assemble, archive, and distribute submitted mission data. Ascertain data and website accuracy, format, and content.

Project Measurement Management: Coordinate and administer integration, maintenance, and operation of instrumentation used for mission measurements, video display and recording, and real time data distribution.

Aircraft Data Systems Management: Administer integration, maintenance, software development, and operation of mission aircraft data acquisition systems. Provide real time and post-mission dissemination of data.

Publication Development: Develop and prepare mission overview papers and documentation, atmospheric chemistry data reports, aircraft navigational reports, meteorological reports, and chemical data plots. Coordinate journal special sections.
