• Sea Surface Measurements:

  1. DMS: Instrumentation fully operational. Concentrations are approximately 1 nM.
  2. DMSP/DMSO: Continuing routine sampling.
  3. NH4+NH3/pH: Both seawater pH and NH4+NH3 are fully operational. NH4+NH3 concentration 0.5 umolar. pH 8.09.
  4. CO: Seawater CO is not operational
  5. NMHC: Instrumentation not operational. System for C2-C3 NMHC sampling, but needs calibration.
  6. CO2: Instrumentation fully operational.
  7. Nitrate/Chlorophyll: Nitrate concentrations are approximately 1 uM. Seawater fluorescence is being recorded continuously. Surface seawater samples are being collected every 4 hours for discrete chlorophyll analysis.

• Atmospheric Measurements:

  1. DMS: Instrumentation fully operational. Concentrations are around 50ppt.
  2. SO2: Instrumentation fully operational.
  3. NH3: Working on HPLC system. Sampling with oxalic acid coated filters.
  4. CO: Atmospheric CO measurements fully operational. Conc. continue near 60 ppb.
  5. NMHC: Instrumentation fully operational.
  6. O3: Atmospheric O3 fully operational. Concentrations near 20 ppb.
  7. Nitrogen oxides and PAN: Not operational due to instrument problems and insufficient winds.
  8. Radon: Instrumentation fully operational.
  9. CO2: Instrumentation fully operational.
  10. Solar Radiation: Spectrometer is operational, scans every 15 minutes.
  11. Aerosol physics: Sizing instrumentation fully operational. Clean, Ntotal = 550 pp/cc, "open" size distribution.
  12. Aerosol chemistry: 2-stage and 7-stage impactors currently sampling for time periods ranging from 24 to 72 hours for IC, total organic carbon, speciated organics, and gravimetric analysis.
  13. Aerosol optical properties: Instrumentation (nephelometer and PSAP) fully operational. Absorption coefficient low.
  14. TDMA-RH: Fully operational, running at the following dry sizes: 35nm, 50nm, 50nm, and 150nm. Humidities 50% and 90%.
  15. TDMA-Thermal: System up. volatility trends in current high pressure airmass of 11-20-95: (temp scans from 25C to 150 C) Dp selected sizes Dp (T range) = stable particle size in nm Aitken mode 35nm: Dp(60-105C) = 34.5 Dp(115-135C) = 32.0 Dp(150) = 29.2 (volatility seems all internally mixed) Accum mode 150 nm: Dp(25-70C) =145.7 Dp(110-115C) =114.2 Dp(120-145C) =107.7 Dp(150) =107.7 (volatility all internally mixed)

• PAST 24-HR OPERATIONS SUMMARY: Course altered yesterday to keep the wind forward of the beam. Although this took us further north, our ETA for the Lagrangian starting point is still 22 Nov.
• OTHER COMMENTS: 48-weather map not received yesterday. 72 hour prog was mislabelled as 48. We never received the DISCO.HTML fill for these daily reports.
