• Sea Surface Measurements:

  1. DMS: Concentrations are on average 1+-0.2 nM.
  2. DMSP/DMSO: Samples collected every 8 hours for particulate and dissolved DMSP and DMSO. Incubation experiment in progress
  3. NH4+NH3/pH: NH4+NH3 concentration 0.5 umolar. pH 8.09.
  4. CO:
  5. NMHC: Butane ~3ppb; Pentane ~0.3ppb in equilibrated air samples.
  6. CO2:
  7. Nitrate/Chlorophyll: Nitrate concentrations are approximately 12 uM. Seawater fluorescence is being recorded continuously. Surface seawater samples are being collected every 4 hours for discrete chlorophyll analysis.

• SPECIAL PLANNED OBSERVATIONS (NEXT 24-HOURS):

  We are currently on Southern Surveyor station P3 approximately 0.5 nm from Southern Surveyor. Common measurements have been made of atmospheric DMS, seawater DMS, Nitrate, ammonia + ammonium, and chlorophyll, and radiosondes overnight. Both ships will conduct a cast at 2100 before Discoverer heads northwest. The transit NW will follow the same cruise track that Southern Surveyor followed south. Discoverer will conduct an intercomparison with the NCAR C-130 today at 0100 UTC (11/25).
