Measurement Comparisons

As a major component of the ICARTT field campaign, NASA’s DC-8 participated in measurement comparisons organized by the ICARTT Measurement Comparison Group. Presented here are the results from four highly coordinated side-by-side comparisons. Three comparisons were conducted with the NOAA WP-3D and one with the FAAM BAe-146. The distance between aircraft pairs was typically around 200m. The comparisons were conducted in two phases. The first phase involved blind comparison of field data. The results shown here are from the second phase comparison of final data which are given in the data archives: NASA INTEX-A and NOAA NEAQS 2004 (standard icartt login required - please contact Tom Ryerson or Ken Aikin for help accessing the NOAA site).

A brief description of the measurements and PI contact information can be found in the file headers of the data files. The users are encouraged to directly contact the individual PI for specific questions regarding the measurements. If you have questions related to the comparison protocol and procedures, please do not hesitate to contact the Measurement Comparison Group, specifically, Tom Ryerson, Bill Brune, and Gao Chen.
